![]() For this reason, students who are looking to narrow their area of focus often compare the two professions. While these careers are different from one another, the desire to help improve patients’ lives is a common thread between occupational therapy and speech therapy. Occupational Therapy vs Speech Therapy: How Do They Differ? Here’s a look at the distinguishing factors between occupational and speech therapy. While there are overlaps in the approach to patient care that both of these professions take, the two careers are distinct. Roughly 40 percent of SLPs work in educational environments at the state, local, and private levels, while other popular settings include private practices, hospitals, and nursing and residential care facilities. The primary goal of a speech therapist is to use therapeutic approaches to improve a patient’s ability to communicate and/or swallow. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs), or speech therapists, are practitioners who diagnose, treat, and prevent communication and swallowing disorders. Other common work environments for these physical therapists include elementary and secondary schools at the state, local, and private levels, home healthcare services, or nursing care facilities. The majority of OTs work in state, local, or private hospitals and or in private practice offices. Occupational therapists treat a wide variety of patients in various settings. Occupational therapists (OTs) are practitioners who use therapeutic techniques to treat injuries, illnesses, or disabilities that affect patients’ ability to complete everyday activities which are important to them. Here’s a look at the differences between occupational therapy and speech therapy so you can better understand which role is best aligned to your goals. Since the duties of these professions sometimes overlap and practitioners often collaborate with one another, it can be difficult to decide which career is right for you. Those who are interested in pursuing a career in rehabilitation therapy often find themselves torn between occupational therapy and speech therapy. Professionals in all three of these fields work together to care for patients whose daily lives have been affected by a disability, injury, or illness. In fact, these careers fall under the category of rehabilitation therapy which includes occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy. It is not uncommon for people interested in patient care to compare occupational therapy and speech-language pathology, or speech therapy. Some speech therapists may offer certain treatments without a prescription. If each treatment costs 55 euros, for example, for ten treatments you would have to pay 65 euros (the basic fee of 10 euros per prescription plus 10 x 5.50 euros). The copayment that you have to pay for yourself is 10 euros per prescription plus 10% of the treatment costs. If speech therapy is given as a part of rehabilitative care, an accident insurer or pension fund will cover the costs. The copayment does not have to be paid when getting a treatment that has been prescribed for children. Appointments are usually offered one to three times per week.įor the medical conditions listed above, prescribed speech therapy is often covered by statutory health insurers (apart from a fixed amount that you have to pay yourself, known as a copayment). Any synapse that maxes out at 3 daughters should absolutely be done with 2 Soulslingers and a Blademaster. More in-depth tips on memories can be found in the individual class guides.Īs stated, Soulslingers and Blademasters are the player’s bread and butter. Memory allocation should be the last thing a player does before entering into a boss fight. Players should be completing Rescue Mission whenever they can and stockpiling those revive tokens (obtained by sacrificing the Bright Soul upon completion.) Keep in mind that memories also die with the Daughters and will need to be re-equipped. The worst possible thing that can happen is losing a powerful Daughter forever to a Graveyard full of forget-full souls. Players should be clearing their graveyards of any trait-less Daughters. As an added bonus, completing Chapter 1 of memories will unlock the 'Wooden Toy' Remembrance, which will grant +10 AP to all daughters. Finally, with enough combat experience, a Daughter can unlock Born Killer which will grant them an additional +10 AP. This coupled with remembrances that increase the base damage of all daughters will make eras 3 and 4 much more manageable (but still rather difficult). For example, Killer of Nightmare Creatures does 20% more damage against Nightmare Creatures. Other passive traits will allow daughters to deal certain percentages more damage. This AP boost will also allow a Blademaster to Sidestep, Slash, and get out of range (If she doesn’t one-shot the enemy). This can effectively pass the turn to a different daughter who may have gone before them. For example, a Soulslinger with an AP boost will be able to cast 2 Spirit Hastes in one turn. This will grant that respective daughter +10 AP which will effectively allow them to perform multiple actions without going into burst mode. The most important trait to develop is ‘One with the Sword/Gun/Shield/Scythe. Blademasters will grant Daughters a percentage increase in effect damage. For example, sinking a Shieldbearer into another Daughter will grant her an HP boost. However, birthing higher level daughters can be helpful in order to use them for healing purposes. It is smart to level up Daughters in the previous era, rebirth them, and fight through to the next boss. Players can also bounce freely between Eras. This is why it is very important to be continually rebirthing the same Daughters (if unable to keep them alive or after losing a boss battle). Traits are passive skills that the player’s Daughters will develop through combat. Sure a higher level daughter has a larger health pool and dishes out more base damage, but they are trait-less. Let’s talk about Daughter traits before getting into why these are the two most important moves in the game.Īs players progress, they’ll gain the ability to birth new daughters at higher levels (4, 7, 10 & 15) While this may seem like the smart thing to do, players will actually be shooting themselves in the foot. Players should ALWAYS be sidestepping to get into position. Let’s be clear, neither of these attacks will deal any damage, but Othercide is about survivability first and foremost. Secondly is the Blademaster’s Sidestep which allows her to jump to ANY tile in range for only 15 AP. This will allow players to put a daughter in position and take action before an enemy can. Spirit Haste allows the Soulslinger to boost an ally in range by 20 initiative. Not only are Soulslingers and Blademasters the most important weapons in the player’s arsenal, they also come with the two most important moves in the game. While each Daughter offers its own unique roll in combat, the two most important classes are Soulslinger and Blademaster. Blademasters are the beating stick of the bunch, and Scythedancers dish out armor shredding AoE damage. Soulslingers wield a pair of dual revolvers and will be able to dispatch of Suffering's minions at a distance. Shieldbearers will act as the ‘tank’ absorbing damage and delaying enemies. There are four character classes that players can choose from in Othercide. |
